Safety Month-End · for WA contractors
Month-end safety reporting, off your desk.
Send your exports. By the fifth business day you get a finished HSE report pack. The numbers are calculated by code, the narrative is drafted by AI, and a person checks every figure before it reaches you. Your data is processed in Australia.
Fixed monthly price. No software to install. Works with whatever system you use now.
| Measure | Sep | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Hours worked | 242,037 | |
| Recordable injuries | 2 | |
| TRIFR, year to date | 8.45 | 5.0 |
| Lost time injuries | 0 | 0 |
| High-potential events | 8 | |
| Overdue actions | 40 | under 10 |
Hand and finger injuries rose from 3 to 5, all in the workshop. [CHECK: were cut-rated gloves available at the point of use?]
Drafted by AI. Flagged where a person has to answer.
- Working on safety systems since 2008
- Built and run from WA
- Australian processing only
- Every number checked by a person
- Weekly walkthroughs on YouTube from 21 October
The report that eats the first week of every month.
Every month someone senior stops doing safety and starts doing spreadsheets. Exports from three places. Hours from payroll that don't match the hours from site. A principal who wants it in their format, by the third. A narrative written at ten at night.
Rebuilt by hand.
The same pivot tables, every month, by the person you can least spare.
Definitions drift.
Count first aid as recordable and a TRIFR of 8.45 becomes 41.80. It happens more than anyone admits.
One report, five formats.
Your board wants one layout. Each principal wants another.
AI that makes things up.
Paste the data into a chatbot and it gives you a confident paragraph. Some of it will be wrong. Some of it won't be your data.
How it works
You send the exports.
Whatever your system produces: incidents, hours, inspections, actions. A spreadsheet is fine. Upload to a secure link or a folder in your own SharePoint. No names or medical details needed.
Code does the maths.
Your figures are calculated by a script against your own written definitions. Not by a chatbot. The same script, every month.
AI drafts the words.
The narrative is drafted by an AI model running in Australia. Where something needs a person to explain it, the draft says so with a [CHECK] marker instead of guessing.
A human checks it. You sign it off.
Every figure is checked against your source data. Every [CHECK] is answered or passed to you. You review the pack and it goes out under your name.
Setup usually takes about two weeks. After that, your part is sending the exports and reading the pack.

September 2026 at a glance
Headline. No lost time injuries. Two medical treatment injuries, both hand lacerations from sheet metal in the workshop. TRIFR year to date is 8.45 against a target of 5.0. Overdue actions sit at 40 against a target of under 10.
What the data says. Reported events fell from 33 to 17. Most of that drop is near misses. [CHECK: did reporting drop, or did the hazards?]
- KPI workbookHours, recordables, frequency rates, high-potential events, inspections, findings, overdue actions. Calculated to your definitions, with the working shown.
- Report packPDF and editable Word. Headline, performance against targets, trends, high-potential events grouped, overdue actions by owner, decisions needed.
- Narrative with [CHECK] markersPlain English, no spin, under 400 words unless you want more.
- Principal versionsThe same numbers in each client's format (Contractor plan and up).
- A change noteWhat moved this month, and any definition decision we made, written down.
The AI is allowed to say “I don't know”.
Most AI writing tools are built to sound sure. This one is built to stop and ask.
If the data shows a rise in hand injuries and nothing in it explains why, the draft doesn't invent a reason. It flags the gap and keeps going.
What can be answered from your data is answered. The rest comes to you as a short list of questions. They're usually the questions your leadership team would have asked anyway.
Hand and finger injuries rose from 3 to 5, all in the workshop: three pinch points fitting hose clamps and two sheet metal lacerations.
Passed to you. Both laceration reports say cut-rated gloves weren't worn. Neither says whether any were available at the bench. That needs someone who was in the workshop.Tap the marker to see what happened to it.
What month-end costs you now
Your numbers, not mine.
What month-end costs you now
- Cost a month
- $1,760
- Cost a year
- $21,120
Plan that fits: Contractor, $1,490 a month.
That's before the cost of a wrong number in front of a client.
Where your data goes
Your files are stored and processed in Amazon's Sydney region. The AI model runs through Amazon Bedrock with an Australia-only setting, so requests are handled in Sydney or Melbourne and nowhere else.
Your data isn't used to train anyone's model. Nothing is sent to anyone but you. Names, medical details and system access are not needed. Exports are enough. The exact setup is written into your agreement.

Who this is for
A good fit if you
- Run safety for a mining-services, civil or construction contractor with roughly 50 to 500 people
- Report monthly to your own leadership and to one or more principals
- Keep your safety data in spreadsheets, a safety system, or a mix of both
- Don't have a BI person, and don't want to hire one just for a monthly report
- Need your data to stay in Australia
Not a fit if you
- Have an in-house reporting or BI team. You don't need this service.
- Want software for logging incidents. Use a safety system for that. Safety Month-End reports on top of it.
- Want the AI to make decisions. It won't. A person signs off every pack.
- Have fewer than about 30 people. The free prompt pack will probably do the job.
Work that conflicts with an existing client commitment is not taken. If that applies, it will be said on the first call.
Founded by James Chong
Built by someone who has watched good safety people lose days to month-end since 2008.
James Chong founded Safety Month-End after years on safety systems: configuring them, migrating them, and building the reports and dashboards that come out of them for some of Australia's largest miners, utilities, retailers and government agencies.
Computer and mathematical sciences at UWA, a 40-person business in his twenties, and now a small farm in WA's Southern Forests. Cattle, bees, timber. A long way from the office, which suits a job that's mostly getting the numbers right.
Every pack still gets a human check before it leaves. That is the product, not an add-on.
Questions people ask
Do you need access to our safety system?
No. Exports are enough. You stay in control of what you send.
What about names and medical details?
Leave them out. The intake template has no fields for them. If they turn up anyway, the file is deleted, you're told, and a clean one is requested.
Which systems do you work with?
Anything that exports to Excel or CSV. If your data lives in three places, that's normal.
Who signs the report off?
You do. A person checks the figures and the draft. The pack goes out under your name, after your review.
What if you're sick at month-end?
The calculations run the same either way. Client numbers stay small enough that checking is always covered.
Is this an AI tool?
It's a service that uses AI for one job: drafting the words. The numbers come from code, and the checking comes from a person.
